Children's Hospital
Track Consulting has won the project management role of the final phase of the Children’s Hospital for Wales. This project is being procurred through the All-Wales Designed for Life framework, Track being part of the Interserve team. This brings to four the number of projects we are now working on with Interserve as part of Designed for Life.
The Children’s Hospital for Wales is a major project with a capital value of £46m. It has a very high public profile and follows on from the successful first phase completed in 2006. The scheme includes for a medical assessment unit, outpatients, radiology, support accommodation and inpatient beds. The new accommodation will be configured around a courtyard playarea which will be themed to reflect the interests of children of different ages. The challenges of constructing this final phase in the location of existing accommodation involves sensitive demolition, decanting and sub-phasing.
The Welsh charity Noah’s Ark is carrying out a campaign to raise £4m for the specialist medical equipment that will be used in the facility, including a paediatric MRI, which will be the first in the UK. Charlotte Church is leading the fundraising as the patron the Noah’s Ark charity.
